WhistleStop is made up of the songs we love best: rootsy acoustic Americana, classic country, and harmony-driven tributes to traditional tunes. We’re Kelli Domke and Dean Kotchka, good friends who met 3 years ago around the song circle at Cincinnati’s storied listening room, The Leo Coffeehouse. There, we first played as a duo at Queen City Balladeer’s 60th Anniversary, and since then we’ve been all in! We were joined this summer by our talented friend and new bandmate, Jody Knoop, on mandolin and vocals. Nowadays, we normally play out as a trio or full band, with Dick Males or John Gardlik added into the mix on upright bass. Together, we love nothing more than spending an entire afternoon tinkering with a “new” old song a dozen ways or more until it feels just right, and then bringing it to you. These are songs that belong to all of us, songs made for a cold drink on the front porch or for a cozy listening space shared with good friends.
Hope to see y’all out there!
